  • Dirty!! Aircon filter After 10k off road.

Here's the proof that this is one of the must have accessories...

After 10k km of off road.....

 at least I know it works! The picture doesn't do it justice...the dirt is about 3mm thick

Here's how it looks with a clean one.....

If you don't have a filter fitted... do yourself a favour and get one.....

    Hi all,

I have seen this mentioned a few times on PP. but can not seem to find a thread on someone retrofitting a filter to a GXL. Is this a simple exercise? What parts are needed. I understand it fits into the slot in the top of the glovebox.
Seems to be a very worthwhile DIY project.

Rob, just pull out the glove box past the stops at the back of the tub.

You will see the filter slide, pull it out.

Head down to clark rubber and get some filter media cut to the internal dimensions, slot it back in and away you go.

        Thanks Damien,

Just had a look......How easy is that, didn't even know it was there. Why don't Toyota put a filter in the frame thats there on the GXL?

          Hi Rob

Here's a link that might help
          http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... sc&start=0

I also find I'm using Stan's Technical Links page quite a lot ... as a great index ...

              Just hit clarke rubber.

Easier, cheaper and just as efficient.

I have used similar media for the last 7 years for A/C filters in Homes and businesses alike.

                Agreed.

You can buy a big enough bit to make a few spares as well .... and still have change.

                Cheers

Not sure why I have never investigated this and performed this mod. MickL's picture certainly confirms the need. Next spare weekend . . . hopefully one in April. (I need to order the Hilux washer jets for the same w/e . . . . and then there's the Polyairs!)

                  Cheers - Byrnsie

                    Thanks Mick :!:

Just went and had a look, took about 10 secs to get the glovebox and filter frame out, will get some filter media tomorrow.

Showed the "Over The Shoulder Moderator" your pic, (she always gets anxious when i pull anything off her car) and got a "wow" :!: :!:

                    Good result
