  • Common breakdown issues

Putting together a tools and spares kit. To help me better prepare I was hoping to understand what are the common breakdown issues experienced by people with a Prado 120 series. I have a 2008 GXL.

if it's an auto you could learn how to remove the starter motor and give it a "service".

You must be looking for the Holden , jeep or land rover website . This is a Toyota site , no breakdowns here , that's why we drive toyota's
03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

Petrol or diesel? Auto or manual?

Good point, but yeah, PRADOS don't break down at all, they are bloody fantastic.
I mean if they have not got a d4d diesel in them.

If its one of those, just take a spare motor
Or check your injectors, might help.

            ^

Just get roadside assistance , though in 2 years of driving my 120 its has never let me down (touchwood again) and never have i had to use it

In general i would say the obvious tools. a few sockets and spanners, you might throw a belt, loose a hose.

Came across another member here 100km west of the Isa with the fuel transfer pump gone, fuel gauge was showing 1/4 tank but no fuel getting through. ( That problem has also been covered on here a few times)

I'm with Playdoh, injectors on the d4d's are the most common cause of grief.

Phone a friend when in need if you're not travelling together.
