Warranty Faults: That Clunk.
Roddy I have the same problem with Stewart Toyota, had the slip joint greased, only to have the clunk return. Do you experience the clunk when applying and releasing the footbrake ?. It happens more often than not. When I first bought this up with Stewart Toyotas Service Dept , I was told this happens when the brakes are released, and was normal, yet this clunk is intermittent. After several visits they still insist there is nothing wrong. I'm changing to another dealer, get another opinion.2006 TD Grande Auto Nudge Bar Reverse Camera Toyota Tow Bar Coopers

Re: Warranty Faults: That Clunk.
hi,
mine does it as i come to a stop. Let me know how you go with another dealer - and which one. I think i may try the same. I only use Stewart Toyota as they are my local dealer - never been real keen on them though. - in fact i'm not keen to use any dealer actually.. certainly not for servicing
cheers, Rod

Guys, the driveline clunk is definately a replace part issue. I had it some time ago and was advised by Sci-Fleet Toyota in Brisbane that this had been identified in the Prado and the Hilux and a replacement driveshaft should be fitted to solve the issue. The replacement has a chamfered end the prevents the sticking issue.
Replaced under warranty with no issues.

Warranty issues
My 120 is now well out of warranty. Toyota replaced the serpentine belt idler at 60,000km because the bearing was noisy. The other fault dealt with under warranty was a sympathetic vibration at around 100kph, cured by installing a weight to change the resonant frequency of the front suspension.
A curious low thudding from the rear is fuel slopping around. Although Toyota offers a new tank to deal with this, the internal baffles probably rob capacity, so I didn't bother.]}:-{>
