  • Prado purchase today

G'day all, first time on the forum. Firstly I just wanna say thanks for everyones feedback on prados

After reading up on this forum I have decided to go for a petrol prado. One of the reasons is I have a nissan patrol 3lt 2002, rebuilt at 201000kms 2 years ago and recently a scare that it may have gone again.

After that scare, that's when I started looking. Well I am happy to say that I have found a VX 2005
Prado V6 with 150000kms on the lock. This one is in great nick and all service history at a toyota dealer.

My question is, with it at 150k; what things should I expect to fix/change in the next 50000kms.

Also what mods should I do first for touring and towing.

    Thanks again

    Andrew

I have the same model with 125000 km and the answer is......nothing! Just normal services but the 160000 km is a big one and I would get the auto fluid changed as it has probably not been done. This will give smoother changes. The only other thing to keep an eye out for is external corrosion around the bottom of the radiator ....... about $250 aftermarket v. 3 times that with original. At that service get ALL fluids changed, new serpentine belt and radiator hoses and enjoy for the next 150000 km! Neil.

Thanks Neil, I'll keep an eye out for those itens you mentioned. I wonder if I'll need to do it before or after Christmas trip.

UHF is straight from the old car, currently shopping for a bull bar. Tyres and suspension next year.

I'll check out the water pump: thanks

As discovered by an enlightened pp member switching your front washer jets to hilux ones is a good cheap easy mod that probably rates as my favourite. Gives you a nice fan of water across the windshield that is sooooo much better than the originals. Plenty of threads about em if you do a search. Changing all your interior globes and perhaps your no. plate and parkers to LEDs is great cheap mod as well. Congrats on your purchase..

The road less travelled is definitely the best road to be on
