Air Con clutch plate slipping

Got this annoying squeal when the a/c kicks in which I was living with but its got progressively worse. I thought it was the belt so tightened it up but it still squealed when first turned on and when kicking in. was under the bonnet scratching my head when it kicked in and I saw the front clutch plate slipping for about 5-10 seconds and squealing until it caught up to the compressor spinning.

No my question - can the clutch be adjusted to make it grab tighter so it doesn't slip?

Talk to an old school ac tech, the clutch mechanism may be able to be replaced on compressor. A lot of places don't like doing this as they don't make as much money, but it can be done on some compressors. As far as I know, the clutch can not be adjusted. If you want some details of a guy that may do it for you (he is based at redbank) pm me and I'll let you know

have been told you can adjust the space of the clutch by an auto sparky down here.
There is apparently a spacer/shim that can be removed.

The clutch clearance can be adjusted but it would need to be pretty worn for it to slip , the reason most shops don't replace the coil only is because when you apply pressure to the clutch magnet it usually cracks the front of the compressor where the coil slips on,
I have tried on a few and they all cracked , not worth wasting peoples time and money
