  • steering wheel vibration when braking at high speed

Hi all. I just felt this strong vibrations when braking at high speeds last weekend on our way to Hunter Valley. I was going around 80 - 90 kph on Freemans drive. What do you guys think is wrong with my 120? Thanks in advance. - Lennard

    Hi Lennard.

Most likely your discs are slightly warped. Depending on how many km they have done they may need machining and replacing the pads. Try looking in the Brakes section for more info.

    Rusty.

Standard for the 120 to warp front discs. That's the symptoms of it too. You can machine them but I would Replace them with DBA T3 rotors. They don't warp like standard ones.
Easy DIY job. 8-10 bolts. Worth changing the pads at same time too.

Agree with the other PPs although were you breaking hard at 80-90kms? If so the ABS would have kicked in.

I wasnt braking too hard just slowing down to maintain speed limit on downhill. Also forgot to mention that i didnt feel that vibration on the way home on the Pacific hiway. I got the 120 a year ago and has 70,000 ks on it at present. Havent changed pads or discs and my tires are about 85% worn. Thanks for the reply guys. Will check my brakes and maybe change my tires soon. Hope you guys had a Merry Xmas and have a Prosperous New Year to all. - Lennard
