steel roof racks on v6

Hi all, im soon to be a proud new owner of a v6 grande. Been hitting up this forum quite a bit last few weeks. I have a question that i couldnt find answer to in search so appologies if been discussed.
Id like to get a full length (2200mm) steel roof rack off ebay for tents, camping stuff etc, nothing more than 50-60kg. Can anyone tell me if fuel consumption will take a big hit with it on? I read they are pretty heavy to put on and off. The car would be otherwise stock.

The roof capacity is only 100kg. I would avoid getting a massive steel roof rack due to its weight. Go for alloy and something low profile like the Pioneer Platform Rack

so the capacity of 100kg is there for stability while driving correct?

whats the load capacity while stationary? (e.g camping with roof top tent)

I would avoid steel roof cages. Too heavy, noisy in the wind and effect fuel consumption. Not to mention they'll eventually rust, which mine did right through in a few places. I just swapped out my steel roof cage for a Rhino Pioneer platorm and love it.

good points. just tempting with the low price for the size. my instant tent is about 2 meters long when its closed so it was perfect. have to check out rhino then.
