A little off topic, but I wonder why nobody ever refers to the Prado in australia as a landcruiser?? Technically it is one, mention the Landcruiser 120 and you will be correted to either Landcruiser 100 or 200....

In europe the prado is only refered to as the landcruiser, nobody knows what a prado is nor a LC120 is.

But the 4 cannot stand for 4 valves per cylinder, since D4D only has 2 valves per cylinder. Well thats what the Redbook claims anyway, can't say i have had a look inside personaly yet!
And I have my doubts about the 4 standing for 4 stroke too, since i dont know of any 2 stroke or non-4 stroke car on the market right now?!

I believe Chuck and Bobn have answered this one, but here's a similar post on a British Forum just to back it up

Great link BlackSheep. Also answers an interesting question that i often got asked when researching what oil to use. "Does the car have a particulate filter" - to which my answer was "what the f*ck is that"? :?

Even Toyo dealers (yes, plural) didnt know!

So for those of you caught in a similar endless loop, the D4D does NOT have a particulate filter.

                  cheers

I was lead to believe the '4' in D4D was to highlight it's Euro 4 compliancey.... is ther such a word. (You know what I mean!)

I could be wrong, I spend most of my life there!

Don't think it is 4 cylinder as I have seen the same sticker on the V8 Landcruiser.
