Driving in low without the lock button switched on...Is this ok?

For the standard 120 has anyone come up with a mod to only have the centre locked by the button?

Rusty.

It's been discussed numerous times, but always seems to end up in the too hard basket.

Yeah I have a VX. Its constant 4WD, so if the H-N-L is in Neutral, nothing happens...it stays in High range all the time, except when you hit steep hills, sand, mud anywhere where high traction is needed then u move it to Low range and press the Centre diff lock button (which turns off VSC)
