i am pretty sure the clicking noise when turning is the notches that auto flick your indicator off when you turn back.

Also I found the squeking in the back of my car was crap building up on the little rubber feet on the seats when they fold up and they move around on the wall.

      Re: squeaky noises

I have a squeek coming from my fridge slide and it is driving me nuts!

its from off road systems and appears to be a good slide, feels solid and slides smoothly, but it squeeks likes a bastard.

If i jam a rag underneath the slide it stops the squeek for smooth bitumin driving, but as soon as I hit any sort of bump it squeeks, and driving on unsealed roads and tracks is bloody annoying.

Any suggestions to address the squeek? The slide cost me a few hundred bucks so I don't want to replace it un-necessarily. If i can't control the squeek, what squeek free slides to people have and recomend?

      Cheers,

      Will

            Re: squeaky noises

            Well that was easy...

I grabbed a bucket and sponge and cleaned out all the dirt, small leaves and general grit which had accumulated in and behind the rubber door seals of the Prado. After a good clean I wiped them down with some Armor All. I then gave all the door hinges and latches a good spray with WD40.

Went for a drive and she sounded like a new car again...fantastic. thanks for the tips fellas.

              Re: squeaky noises

I had to slightly adjust the alignment of my rear door when the daughter decided to let it go and it moved on the hinge slightly.

After she did this, a squeak and rattle was there... that is until I realigned the door,

              Silence is now bliss!

Check your rear door! (on the car):P

we had squeaks and thudding noises coming from the rear door of our 120 for ages and tried to narrow the causes down. Tried the dash cleaner on the main seal and it helped for a bit until it dried.
The solutions in the end. The thudding noise when going over bumps was the door alignment. It had dropped and would bounce on the door hinged and cause some squeaking. Lifting the door but adjusting the hinges solved this one.
The loud squeaking and rattle in back in the end was solved by replacing the small rubber stopper at the top of the door, that had slightly gone out of shape and worn.
Also check that the bottle jack in the back, is done up tight. That was another rattle.
Now there is no squeaks, rattles, thuds. so relaxing for once. haha

Mine is not a squeak, it's a metallic rattle. Had a hunt around just now and have isolated the exhaust. All the rubber mounts are fine but there is a lot of sideways movement at the rear end of the pipe. I can't for the life of me find where metal is touching metal.

There's a point in the throttle position where the noise is continuous so I had the wife hold it there while I was under t be car. As soon as I hold the exhaust, rattle stops. Looks like I may have to replace the rubber mounts to get some tension back. Wish I had the funds to convince her that the exhaust is on the way out. I wouldn't mind a beaudesert 3inch exhaust.

Mine turned out to be a split in the exhaust. Got it welded up and noise gone.
The split was where the exhaust went over the rear axle.

Try greasing the latch and guide for the rear door, where it closes shut, the whole mechanism. i had the same problem and it seemed to fix it.

                            Cheers

Anyone know what sort of grease to use on a door hinge?

My driver's side rear door is squeaky. I believe it is coming from the black guide which appears to control the opening of the door, rather than the actual hinge itself.

Some say WD40 then others say no to this on cars. Consensus appears to be white lithum grease but thought I would ask on here first.

MK use the correct stuff (white hinge grease), WD40 or any of the fish oils will wash out the existing grease.
