  • 2005 Prado Grande Petrol

    Hi all
I am new to this forum as i have only just purchased this car today from a friends dad who bought it new
Ive never had a 4wd Toyota before ( previous vehicles pajero patrol courier and suzuki)

We bought this car as we are trucking the car from perth to melbourne, pickup cub camper, back to perth via great ocean road, adelaide , nullabor, esperance and then home.

As the car is pretty much standard i am thinking of putting a second battery under the bonnet ( or in the rear, not sure) to run the fridge and lights in the camper.

Can someone recommend the best battrey tray to use.
I notice they all seem to require the power steering moved (not keen hut if i have to then i will)

Also as the car is 10 yrs old and done 110km, can you recommend anything i should be looking at with regards to servicing. Ie timing belt injectors auto transmission etc anything that may need to be changed.
It does have full service history.

Checked the sunroof and it does have minor rust around the leading edge of the glass.
Is this difgicult to remove to fix as would like to do it myself if possible.

Checked the dash and no damage or cracks.

Sorry ahout all the questions hut i am a complete toyota novice.
    Regards

G'day Pepsi, welcome to Pradopoint! Have a look at the Offroad down under battery trays. Although the power steering reservoir requires modding, it's not to hard and the tray is well supported by being bolted to the side of the guard which is better than most. For a 2005 Prado with only 110K on it is pretty good and if it has a full service history then you shouldn't have too much to worry about. The next major service will be @ 120K, so all the fluids should be replaced at that one.
Enjoy the site here, there's plenty of good info available with the best means of searching is by way of Google and entering "site: Pradopoint.com" at the end of your search criteria.
    Good luck!
