  • Has anyone had a issue with intermitent power loss/ failure

Hi like to bounce a problem off a few of you as we're (mec and I) at a loss atm.

The car is a 2007 D4D 190ks. Whilst travelling it has been cutting out. Fairly random times can go a couple of weeks or month between doing it, has happened when idling at the front gate upon arriving home, or while travelling on the highway.

It is now starting to (when in drive), pull up at lights, take off push on accelerator, no go (like in an old petrol car major flat spot in carby), thinking it could be a fuel problem - changed fuel filters - still happening, problem is there as driving along aswell. Not all the time though.

Changed the fuel filter a couple of weeks ago, had it serviced, put it on the scanner with no faults, everything reading spot on. Could it be problem in the primer diaphram???? at a loss can anyone help ????

Sounds like the Suction Control Valve may be cactus.

Suggest you start there, replace it and MAKE SURE you check your injectors while you're at it.
    Cheers
    Micheal.

Well 120D4D you were spot on. One decent diesel mechanic later and a new SCV we're back on track, so thank you for the heads up.
'Only' $300 difference between quotes for it as well 😳

          Good result.

Note sure about the $300 price difference though for what is essentially a sub $200 part that needs has two bolts holding it on!
          Cheers

Mrs Niceone again AKA the finance minister AKA the handbrake AKA.... 😀

Had the car booked into the local Toyota dealership for the injector seal recall, while there NO asked about the SCV and if they could be causing the problem. He was quoted $750 for them to be done there. After declining the offer he had a mobile diesel mechanic come out and do the job for $420.

Muttering something about happy wife happy life. Now what does that mean??? 😎

Did you get the injector seats done? Also have you checked the oil pick up screen and injector feedback values?
