  • V6 broken down/ possible fuel issue

Hi guys just after any info or ideas on my problem.
Was driving along freeway at 100kph when the prado suddenly stalled and came to a stop. Tried to restart, it would turn over fine but just wouldn't fire. Like it wasn't getting fuel. I checked the fuse block and switched the fuel pump relay around to no avail. Ended up ringing racv and their guy, who didn't impress me greatly ( asked me after 5 minutes if it was a petrol engine?) got me going by spraying (start ya bastard) in the air cleaner, I couldn't believe it. We drove about another 2ks and the same issue, stalled and wouldn't restart. Had it towed home and checked the fuel pump was working by using a jump wire, it was working and the car started and is running perfectly. Too afraid to drive anywhere though. Will try to drive to mechanics tomorrow but thought I would rack everyone's brains. No doubt it will run fine and he won't be able to diagnose.
I have checked the manual etc and found that the petrol engine has a fuel pump shutoff system, so I am thinking it I could be this or an electrical issue. When it stalled the engine light and a/t temp light came on! I know the auto wasn't hot as I have an aftermarket gauge and had only been driving for 5 mins.
    Any advice appreciated
    Thanks
    Steve

The mechanic should be able to plug in a diagnostic tool and see if it is throwing any codes. I've had starting issues before with my V6 150 but never stalling while driving, that's not good.
