Transmission Range Sensor

The "Malfunction Indicator lamp" light came on indicating I needed to take car to Toyota.

After diagnosis they advised relevant error code PO705 indicated the Transmission Range sensor had been activated.

They reset and said if it happened again they would look further into it.
Told me it was OK to drive but not too far.

Anybody else have this problem, and what is the purpose of this sensor?

Transmission range sensor tells the PCM what gear you have chosen on the t-bar. Odd that its playing up though. :?

The mechanic said it was most likely just a glitch .

OK, time to drag this one up again.

After getting an under-body wash last week coming off the beach, I'm getting the P0705 error code intermittently.
Diagnosis via dash lighting up and scanguage.
I clear the code via my Scan Guage but reoccurs in seconds.

Anyone had the same issue and what fixed it.
