  • When is a new car already an old car?

    Hi all,
Hope you can help me out. I am new to the country and need to buy a 4wd straight away. 4 kids to lug around so I want a Prado. From this forum I can see that the date of purchase makes a difference to the price of the car.Is the year of manufacture important or the registration date? If I buy a car today is it considered a year in january 07 or not until July 07 . Things here are different to Ireland!! The dealers all say that the day of regestration is the crutial date . Are the being a bit economical with the truth??
    Any advice/clarifacation would be great.

I agree, it's definitely date of manufacture that counts - compliance date is merely a selling smokescreen.

If you buy an older one, you can take the saving up front (just make sure it;s enough of a saving though), or, choose to buy newer and do better on the resale - the choice is yours...
