A few years back my wife and I were walking through one of the local shopping plaza carparks when I heard this gushing water sound. It was really loud and being 40 degrees in the shade the sound of gushing water pricked our attention. So we stopped and looked around to see a woman with her skirt hiked up and butt pressed against someones car having a really good you know what down their door. She did not care who was around and when she finished she just walk off. I said to my wife, " You know some poor sod is going to come back to their car and see all that water and think Oh no, is that petrol or water?" Now you know what we do instinctively when we see something like this on the ground under our car, right? Yep we immediately put our fingers in it and then sniff them to see what it is.   This is what I related to my wife and she damn near lost her lunch on the spot.  :lol:Roll on the 2010 Pradopoint GTG

Just be careful with anything with yellow connectors and insulation. It's to do with the SRS system and it goes to the reel for a seat belt pre-tensioner. Actually a small explosive in there to pull the belt tight in an accident. Should really disable the system before touching it which NORMALLY involves leaving the battery off for about a minute. Never had to fix a toyota system so never investigated the exact way to do it. Just use common sense!

 now you tell me!
Well I did unplug it from the pre-tensioner assembly and then put it all back together, but didn't disconnect the battery. Nothing bad happened, but could it cause some other issue later?
However, while I was working on the water issue, I hitched the reel assembly up into the seat pocket to get it out of the way and of course some of the belt retracted into the reel. When I went to bolt the assembly back in place there wasn't enough belt extended to get it into place and turns out that the belt can't be released when it's not plugged in. Problem is that the couple of centimetres I was short meant that the cable wasn't long enough to reach the assembly to plug it in. So I ended up having the peel off the electrical tape to free up some cable so I could reach the assembly to get the plug in which immediately released the reel and I could pull out the belt to get it all back together. I bound the cable back in electrical tape and you'd never know ops:

so in all that digging did you find the source of the dampness?

Well, after horrendous storms on Saturday that one of our trees didn't survive, I can't complain that my repairs haven't been tested.
So, the result?
A dry seatbelt!
It must have been coming in through the bolt holes in the roof rack and running down the column. Something to be careful of for all players...
phew...
