  • so is my 120 auto a 4 or a 5 speed...?

call me a numpty but I bought my 4.0 litre VX second hand off a widow who didn't pretend to know but all I know is it has 2/3/4 and D on my selector. it was suggested that D simply locks the torque convertor but when I push it across to 4 it feels more like a gear change. short of a trip to Toyota with my VIN can anyone tell me straight up? I seem to need to drop back to 3rd to get a camper trailer up hills without any sort of strain, a tad of a disappointment after my 3.5 litre NJ pajero considering how thirsty it has turned out to be

If you have a 4 then it is a 5 speed. In S mode move the lever back and forward and it should show 5.

      It's a 5 speed.

      The 120 doesn't have an S mode with +/- like the 150.
