  • Grande air suspension

    Hi all
I have a question. Every time I start my grande I hear the compressor run on the rear suspension. Does this mean theres a leak ?
    Cheers Jon

Possibly. Keep an eye on the suspension height. If it drops significantly overnight, then there's a leak.

Interesting. What has has swayed your preference to factory as opposed to the taller, heavier duty OA6011's Andrew?

Spill the beans!! I'm about to replace my airbag's and was going down the ABM path... purely for the lift when I replace the factory TEMS with OME. Would the factory bags with a spacer be the better option?

My understanding is the Airbagman ones have plastic lower locating lugs that may snap off in certain situations.

Can't give you any experiences with ABM ones, but the genuine airbags with Andrew's (amts) spacers work great with a 2'' lift for me.

The fact, that i will get those (expensive) factory airbags in every Toyota workshop all over the world in case of failure was a main point for keeping the factory airbags. When you once cut out the top-bracket at the chassis for fitting ABMs, you can't go back to genuine airbags - I think. What to do when ABMs won't be available anymore?

Regarding the compressor: A little of pumping after starting the car is quite normal, isn't it? Because the Prado lowers her tail a bit in parking position?
But longer sounds of the compressor could be a sign of slightly leaking airbags. As Andrew (amts) mentioned, watch your tail height in the morning and you'll see if the airbags were leaking over night.

                      Regards
                      Sven

Piggy is right. Retention of the ABM ones is virtually impossible. As some know I like to use my 4wd drive for the purposes intended and then some. I too have amts spacers and cannot afford a bloody aribag to dislocate on the tracks with a T-Van in tow.

Mine did too, not since the replacement. My old bags are perfectly fine so it seems normal.

Has anyone reported the locating lug being snapped off? I'd be interested to know...
