Hi All,
New to the forum and Prado ownership, so apologies if this has been done before - the only similar thread I could find seems a few years old now.
I am now the proud owner of a 2007 120 series, and have just re-read the service history and books to find out it was sold to me (from the dealer) already overdue for a basic service. Go me - my own fault, should have read stuff more clearly.
In any case, for the vehicles entire life it has been serviced by someone who seems to be out of the mechanic business now, so I am searching for a mechanic who knows the "things to look out for" when working on the D4D engine - this is one of the earlier ones with this engine, but only 95k kms or so.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic in Melbourne (preferred SE suburbs) that has picked up issues well before they become a problem?
Ive been bitten too many times by people recommending expensive repairs that were not the cause of the problem ($3k on injectors for my last car, did not fix problem) so I am a little apprehensive to just take it to a dealer mechanic without any prior knowledge.
Any info or advice greatly appreciated!
