  • warranty issues to be fixed before it expires?

    Hi all,
    first post, first Prado.
just bought a 2005 Grande - (would throw a pic up but not sure how to?)

    looks great I reckon!

it has a couple of months factory warranty left and was wondering if there is anything I should check out (ie known issues) that could be repaired under warranty before it expires?

    appreciate the help..

    Howdy,

I too am close to the 3 year expiration. Where I take mine for a service in Milton (NOT Toyota), they will do a quick check over for things that can be fixed under warranty...... would think a NON Toyota place would pick up more things....

When I get this done (next few weeks) will let you know.... but one thing I have already had fixed was the back door from people letting it swing open too fast.... plenty of posts on this issue here.

    Thanks

    Nick.

        Warranty items

A couple of things I have already had done on my 2004 TD:
        1. check your steering wheel. The leather breaks down and is a known problem. New steerin wheels appear to be better built.
        2. Check where the straps that hold the rear seats up cross over the seat sides. the straps cut the seat covering. It is a Toyota known problem and they will replace them without question until such time as the warranty expires.
        3. rear door has been mentioned. Apparently the door was strengthened in late 2003 and the problem only affects early models.
        4. Check for any cracking in the engine bay. There was a pos on this somewhere in this forum.

2004 White TD GXL manual, Dtronic chip, Piranha dual battery, Sovereign bullbar, IPF spotties, UHF, BFG ATs, Toyota triple roof bars, tinted windows, tow bar, Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller, TX3400 UHF, rear vision camera, Clarke's Country Camper, etc, etc - all sound like an ad for the Trading Post really!

why would a non toyota place pick more things up

you would think that lookin at them all day a toyota tech would be the best person to know common faults and weak areas of a prado.

just becuase sales men are scumbags(dosnt matter what they sell there all the same.) dosnt mean that everyone else at the dealership is the same.

I've been told at Wolloongabba Toyota that stress fractures on the cargo window seals are common. Have a check over them before the 3 years are up.
