New GXL Air Con controls - are they now electronic??

Hi all,

Our new 2004 Prado GXL has a problem where the illumination in the air con control dials go out and then need a good thump with your hand to get them going again. This also happens with the cigarette lighter illumination.

I did notice that perhaps the newer GXL's have some kind of electronic air conditioning controls in place of the three dials in ours. is this the case, and could I replace my dials with these newer units to solve the problem?

the climate control would be fully intergrated, im not sure the older gxl's can be retrofitted or not.

have you taken the centre part of the dash out to check the connectors? thats probly all it will be (or a $10 replacement globe)
