  • Airbag light on

The airbag light on the dash has come on. Is this due to a broken wire in the steering column harness? Can it be repaired or is it a replacement job? If so, where can I get one from? Cost?
    Cheers

Could be the clockspring/spiral cable in the steering column. It's a common fault in a 150 Prado. Better find out the true fault first. Being a mechanical part, things wear out after a lot of use. Hopefully that's your issue.

Checkout eBay under Prado clockspring. The aftermarket replacement clockspring assemblies are not that pricey - under a hundred bucks. Then compare it to a genuine part then walk away Toyota price for my 150 Kakadu is over $1200 though it's a more advanced unit. Be interesting to see the genuine 120 price.

        that's the beast.

did mine a couple months back. about $70 on ebay. never bothered checking with Toyota, but there's a few threads on here indicating they want around 700 to supply and fit.

my cheapie worked a treat and no dramas changing it.
