I have a 120 V6 but my son in law owns a D4D & has asked me to see if anyone else has experienced his problem:-
"Has anyone seen a white powdery substance building up on the power steering canister of the d4 diesel engine? Possible cause is the canister is acting as a sacrificial anode with other metals causing a galvanic reaction. The white substance is highly corrosive and has eroded plastic hose brackets and rubber components in the engine bay.
At the first service, 5000km check up ,the Toyota service team suggested it was not the battery after checking it thoroughly. I noticed plenty of
electrical tape had been applied around hosing and lines possibly for
insulation purposes.
I'm interested in any feedback before I book it in for its 10,000km service
next week."
Thanks, Willy
