Re: Bonnet Gas Struts are starting to fail

I had both struts of the rear door of SWMBO SantaFe regassed for $55. Mobile service and done in 15min. As long as the struts are'nt damaged, you get to keep the struts original and regassed. Too easy!

Re: Bonnet Gas Struts are starting to fail

Replaced the Struts last week, 15min job. The ball on the end of the original is fixed to the strut so had to unscrew them, screw in the new ball head bolts and clip the new struts onto the balls.
Old struts lasted 8yrs and cost about $500 to replace, new ones were only $50, even if they only last 1/2 as long still a bargain, and if I get the same ones again, will be even simpler to replace, just clip the old ones off, push new one on.

Its amazing how bad the old ones had got, the new ones once you release the bonnet safety, you can let the bonnet go and it will lift itself to the top. The old ones I had to lift the bonnet to the top, hold it there for a second (and hope it held)!

I was in Repco last week and they had a whole rack of different sized ones for $33-$50 each- sure to be something to fit. Neil

Always seems funny standing next to an owner of a competing business on the opposite side of counter lining up to buy stuff. Yep this is where i got mine from cant remember the price my mechanic was up there getting some other parts to i just told him to pick up a pair and whack em on
Dont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further
