Front & Rear Door Speakers

Can anyone recommend some direct replacement good quality aftermarket door speakers. Ive changed my head unit and the originals are still not up to much.
Ive tried doing a search on this one but didn't get anything up, unless i'm doing something wrong... ???

I replaced mine with a set of 6 inch Pioneer speakers in the back doors as the originals were distorted.

I was unable to get exact match speakers so traced the plastic mount around the originals onto some malimite, then traced inside this for the new speakers. Have only done this for the back doors but planning on upgrading the front ones soon.

The news speakers sound heaps better and have had no rattles or problems with them since.

Have you plugged them directly into the stocko unit or had an upgraded head unit as well?

Did you use the original speaker wires or did you run new cables thro the door shuts ? And is there any dramas removing the front and rear door trims to gain access to the speakers ?

I used the standard wiring and still have the original (replaced by Toyota twice) head unit. While the Prado is an 04 GXL the head unit is now a Toyota MP3 job.

The door trims were pretty simple to take off.

They certainly cope better with more volume than the stock units did. Looking forward to replacing the front one in the next few weeks.

Hi Guys
Yes the speaker replacement is on going, Had to make new mounting brackets to sit where the originals were mounted in the front and rear door frames.
Can anybody tell me just on the rear door speakers which wire is positive and which is negative to save me tracing back to the multi plug behind the head unit.
Ive got the plug off the rear right hand side speaker and the colours are red and white, has anybody got a wiring diagram handy that can give me the Pos and Neg colours for both rear speakers Not sure on the rear left hand side yet as not got the door panel off

HI,

How did your install go? Did you have to replace the tweeter in the front door or where you able to make it work with the new front speakers? Is there an OEM crossover somewhere in the door for the OEM tweeter?

If you use the original wiring to connect up your new speakers the front door tweeters are already still connected

Thats what I assumed, I appreciate your response. The speaker replacement will take place next week, the paper cone speakers have got to go :twisted:
