Our last experience at the local Toyota service department.
I prepared the Prado for our trip to Fraser. The 60k service was due so I booked it in a few days before we left. Imagine my horror on the third day at Fraser when I discovered that the airbox lid was not clipped down :| Luckily there was very little sand in there, I would say that the induction vacuum helped seal the box when the motor was running, well that's what I tell myself anyway.
How about this. I fitted a set of recovery points to the front of the P and discovered that the two bottom radiator bolts were missing. The rad was swinging back and forth on the top two bolts! My wife took the P in for the above service and told them about the missing bolts. When she picked the car up they told her that the radiator was fine, it is designed to move due to vibration and is fitted with big rubber washers. They treated her like she was an idiot, were condescending and rude. She phoned me almost in tears and I just about hit the roof. I rang them immediately, gave 'em a serve. My wife took the car back, got the same atitude from the service manager again and waited for someone to look at the radiator. A little while later one of the goons came in and she overheard the conversation. The manager basically said "ya didn't find anything missing did ya" the mechanic then said "well actually she's right, there is two bolts missing" He went away, we got the car back without even an aplology.
I will not be going back to Toyota in a hurry.
