Hi everyone,
I have an 04 120 series GX which as many of you will know has the narrow 17" x 6" steel rims.
I am considering replacing them with the 17" x 7.5" steel rims from the latest GX series. Toyota have a "special" on at the moment where these rims are 1/2 price @ $130 ea.
I have spoken to my local tyre dealer and he tells me that if I do that and put the 265/65 R17 112S tyres on (as per latest GX specs) then my speedo will be out by approx 7.184% to slow.
He then went on to tell me that Toyota can recalibrate the speedo via the computer and that each model (GX, GXL etc is computer calibrated to suit the different tyre sizes that each vehicle has.
Does anyone know if this is correct or not and if so, whats the approx cost of this exercise.
Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Cruiser120
