    Bad Smell from Rear Passenger AC Grill

    I have a problem with my LC 120 2005 Prado. Every time i turn on the ac from the rear passenger area a bad smell coming out from the rear passenger ac grill like a rotten wet cloth. There's no problem from the front ac grill no bad fumes coming out . I already change the filter but still no luck. Its there any other filter from the rear ac or trace where it is coming from? Thanks

      Could also be dust smell if its not used often. It tends to grow a steenky bacteria in there.

      You can get the air con people to use a pressure sprayer to blow in there and it neutralises the smell.

        I don't use the rear ac often probably a bacteria. I guess i need an expensive ac repair.

            Locally they just squirt some bacteria killing spray in there to kill off the bad stuff, takes all of 30 seconds..

              Don't get Toyota to do the "Air Conditioning System Service". It costs $100.00 and leaves your cab smelling of toilet cleaner. ...... :evil: :roll:

                  Heh heh yeah I'll say. I could have supplied the Toilet Duck myself to save a little cash..... :roll:

                  Well I suppose it is very difficult for them. Putting those filters in the Toilet Duck bath and spraying the Glen 20 into the vents is highly technical. They also said something about putting a toilet brush through the vents to get rid of "contamination". If you've watched Gattaca then you'll know how nasty contamination can be. Geez I'm glad that Toyota is looking after me......

                      Having just gone for a drive with the kids, any solutions for addressing a bad smell from a rear passenger?
                      All jokes aside... I'd be trying something like "Glen-20"or a similair product before I coughed up $100 to Toyota.

                      On the "maintenance" side of things..

                      1)run the air on a regular basis.

                      2) A couple of minutes before stopping switch of the air off but leave the fan running and switch to "fresh" this will help dry things out.

                      3) Check drain tube on a regular basis ( I assume the rear has its own?)
