    Insurance for your 120

    I currently have my Prado insurance through NRMA. They seem to cover general 4x4 travel (but not 4x4 training days - go figure).
    I pay $1182.46 a year for mine, no mods, (includes the group policy discount and 60% no claim bonus).

    I was curious to know if there was a better deal out there (in terms of cost vs whats covered) with other insurance companies.

    Who is everybody with? What is your excess? And what do you currently pay?

      Mine's through Wesfarmers, Under $800 with all mods/accessories covered inc goods carried (fridge/tools/camera etc). It is however packaged together with our home and contents/income protection/business/public liability etc, hence the good price. My broker is a family friend so that helps too

      Premium for Adelaide metro, $250 excess inc any other nominated driver over 25 yrs old.


      Those of you that think you're covered off road might want to double check and get it in writing... in most cases it's off road but on gazetted tracks... not off road no track

      PS- this policy covers the CT as well...so it's Prado + CT@ $10k.. so not really comparing apples with apples. Insurance also varies for country/metro/area

            Local RAC packaged with other insurances $530pa all mods notified and covered with total replacement in first two years on a $500 excess.

                Nice find Kevin. I actually did do a search for 'insurance' before posting the topic, but the search came up with about a thousand :shock: general mentions of the word 'insurance' in various posts, but nothing that covered my questioning. I guess on reflection a better search would have been 'comprehensive insurance'. :roll:

                    my prado gxl d4d is thru toyota ins $600. recieved discount $60 because i upgraded alarm system business country use,$250 excess full comprensive also added tint, towbar,reversing camera,arb steel bullbar,cargo barrier,rhino roof rails adelaide merv.

                        i bought my prado 2nd hand 6 months ago, insured through TOYOTA INSURANCE , insured for $47,000 at a cost of $52.16 / month. cheapest i could find and i am insured for offroad..
                        150 on order ??

                          The best price I find here in Brazil for insurance is US$ 2530.00 by Tokio Marine :shock: :shock: :shock:

                          The prices of insurance in Brazil are very, very, very expensive, for example, the best price by ING here is US$ 8250.00 :shock:

                            Chalk me up with Wesfarmers as well. Around $800.00 a year. One new windscreen per year. Only reason being is that the same guy has looked after us for years and did all our farm insurance etc all those years ago. Well up with 4WD mods as well so I'm happy with that. Haven't yet queried the 265/70 tyres I'm thinking about with them though.

                              I just changed over to Allianz from Lumley Special Vehicles after the agreed value that they would insure for dropped and the excess went up.
