  • How to remove boot carpet?

Just curious if anyone knows how to remove the carpet in the boot (where the 3rd row seats are located)? The reason I'm asking is because I am just about to install a cargo barrier (Ausguard) and want some pointers and hints removal and replacement of the carpet.

You have to remove the plastic trim along the back door and those around the third row seat strikers (latch and striker...think that 's the right word :?: ) They are secured with phillips head screws hidden under little trim caps.

The carpet is simply tucked under the side trims, you can just pull it out.

That sounds pretty easy, thanks for the heads up.

Another thing... as well as the screws there are a couple of clips holding the trim pieces . One in the center of each striker trim piece. The one along the back door clips to the side trim at each end of it's length.

Just something to be aware off... very straight forward once you get into it..

Very easy to remove the rear carpet. As mentioned above, you need to remove the rear most plastic moulding that sits up against the back door when closed. Remove the plastic trips that cover the 3rd row seat points on the floor. I think the rear carpet is clipped to the 2nd row carpet just behind the back seats. Can't remember if it is or not but it is an extremely easy thing to do.

Just remember that when you put the screws back in that they go into soft plastic. Take it easy and only nip the screws up lightly.

Any hints about putting these trims back onto those pesky clips? I've pushed and pulled to no avail. Thinking I might have to buy some new clips...

By memory, you need to remove the plastic clips from the Prado and put them onto the trim then push the clips into the locating holes. hope this helps.

Any pics of the installed product. Is it mesh or poly. Thanks.

                  Hi Guys,
First post as I finally picked up my new Grande D4D Thursday night.... yay!.. Only took 5 months from order!
                  Now to start the mods!
I have the same issue as Michael. Needed to put a "covering" over the existing carpet for the dog's muddy feet. Got the existing carpet up, used it as a template to cut the material, put the carpet back with the new lining on top (not too thick so fitted OK), put everything back, but couldn't for the life of me get those centre clips back into the 3rd row seat holders. Do they just pop off if you pull them straight up, so you can put them into the trim?
I'll post the pics of the finished product soon.
                  cheers,

Don't want to try if they don't come off that way.

                    thanks heaps...

                      Flyby,
Have you managed to get the clips in yet?

I need to take mine out when I put the drawers in so I don't damage the plastic trim. They simple click stright back in, just make sure you have them the right way round - to align with the hole in the floor.

                      Cheers,
