Why do the roof rails look short

Here we are, Could have been asked before.
Why do the Prado roof rails look like they were made for a Corolla or some thing shorter.
I Would have expected the rails to extend at lease 300mm further forward.
Ideas?
Remedy?
Fit longer rails off another vehicle?

Maybe it's because of the sunroof - shorter to not obstruct the sunroof opening. ? Only reason I can think of.

Yes, this as well. Many Landcruisers with cracks around turret where they have been overloaded on rough roads, or vehicles that roll over and play dead.....

I think the length of the rails is governed by where the fixing mounts had to be positioned. The mounts had to be directly above the pillars so load forces are transferred properly through to the body. Cant have rack mounts half way between door spans, although have seen some 4x4 vehicles with home made racks connected to gutters above doors, with cracked gutters and rusty roofs where they are flexing.
Prado windsceen angle is probably the limiting factor on how far forward the mount points could have been fitted......
