MIDDLE ROW SEAT BELTS STICKING

MY FIRST THREAD, SO BE KIND.
GREAT SITE,IVE BEEN READING ALMOST EVERYTHING ON THIS SITE SINCE PURCHASING MY 2004 3.OTD A MONTH OR SO AGO,AND THOUGHT THAT SOME ONE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP ME OUT.
THE SEAT BELTS IN THE MIDDLE ROW STOP COMING OUT IF YOU STOP, THEN RE-START PULLING THEM(if that makes any sence)THEY THEN NEED TO BE PUT ALL THE WAY BACK IN BEFORE YOU CAN START PULLING THEM OUT AGAIN.
ALSO MY REAR WINDOW WASHER DOSENT WORK,IVE CHECKED ALL THE FUSES THERE OK SO WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD TROUBLE WITH THE PUMPS IN THE WASHERS BEFORE.
THESE ARE ONLY LITTLE THINGS BUT ARE ANNOYING.OVER ALL IM BLOWN AWAY WITH THE WAY THE PRADO PEFORMS,I TRADED IN MY 98 MODEL 3.6 PETROL JACK FOR THIS AND I ONLY WISH THAT I HAD DONE I SOONER.
NOT SURE HOW TO ADD ALL THE FANCY STUFF AT THE BOTTOM OF MY PAGE YET SO I SHALL WORK ON THAT AND ALSO A PICTURE ON THE SIDE.THERES NOTHING FLASH ABOUT THE PRADO YET(add ons) BUT IM WORKING ON IT.

First off, using CAPITALS in forums is considered as SHOUTING!!! so please refrain
2ndly, I have this same problem and its hell annoying with the seatbelts.
Thirdly, we need your location in your username please as it may help you in some subjects for information as different countries have different issues.

sorry about the capitals,as i posted, im new to all this.i did fill in the location bit but im not sure why it never showed up on the side bar and im not sure how to fix it.my location is newcastle. ops:

Does it happen after you've pulled the seatbelt all the way out? If so, its not really a problem.The seatbelts are specifically designed to do that so when you have baby seats installed you can lock them firmly in place. It prevents the seats from "creeping" due to slack belts. If the belts didn't lock the seats could potentially move around and possibly result in a injured child when involved in a collision. The belts operate a ratcheting-type system after you pull them out a certain distance and if they retract you then can't pull them out any further unless you let them fully retract. All the Jap cars I've had in the last few years have that feature

The problem I have with the middle row seat belts on my Prado is that every little bump in the road causes them to slowly retract. At the first stage, the middle row seat passenger is pinned to the back of the seat. At the second stage the middle row seat passenger starts to look like a tied up chook with a red face. At the third stage the middle row seat passenger starts to strangle. Oddly enough this only seems to affect my mother in law. I don't know what happens at stage four, as she starts to behave herself after I yell out "now that's three!"

I bet you mother in law is fat

As snappa said earlier if you pull the belts all the way out they will go into the mode designed to hold child seats (they will only retract not extend) and you can hear when they are in this mode as you will hear a ratcheting noise as they retract

The only way to take them out of this mode is to release them from the socket & let them retract all the way in & start again

We get this complaint a lot from people who carry fat people or kids in the back of the car as fat people pull them all the way out to get them around them before buckling them up & kids sit in the car & play with them & end up pulling them all the way out

I once had a customer who had a child struggling in the back causing the belt to tighten up around them even more & they panicked & cut the belt to release the child instead of simply unbuckling the belt & than came in and asked for the belt to be replaced under warranty saying it was faulty (they didn't realise how the belt worked)

This is explained in the owners manual & there is a tag on the belts as well

I have got to get me one of those...
