Wrong outside temperature readings

Along with my AC problems, the outside temperature reading has been on the fritz! It was reading negative 25 the other day and did it again this morning. The ambient temps are around +32C in the morning and +43C in the afternoon. Any one know what could be the culprit?

You could check the sensor, maybe it's faulty or has a poor connection at the plug or wiring.There is some further information in this thread:

Thanks Mick, could I have bumped something when changing the horn? Cant see what would make it ready -25 though. ANy pictures would be appreciated, I will try and search for it after I get home from work.

Cheers Mick, I could not see any photos. Is there any proper way of cleaning this temp sensor? Should one use WD40 or just water? Still showing -20 when it is -33 outside, but it is OK in the afternoon, which could be that the morning dew is getting in there somehow and messing up the reading :idea:

Ooops my bad, I meant +33, I live in Dubai and the heat must have melted a brain cell or two :roll:

I think you will find the outside tempreture sender unit is a bit optimistic (pessimistic ?) to say the least.

My truck sit outside in the sun whilst at work, and I noticed it hit 41 or 42 degrees late last week, i suspect the biggest issue is heatsink with hot air getting trapped underneath the bonnet/bullbar/sump guard.

Personally I'm not to worried about it, once I start driving a bit things settle down fairly quickly to normalish temps.

Granted though the hottest day here in nothing compared to the middle east.

Latest update, the darn thing is still playing tricks on me, most days it stops working , it is now showing two horizontal lines as if dead. On some days, it goes back to being very wrong, I am trying to take it to the stealer for warranty work, they want the car to stay with them for 5 days for any warranty work, what excellent service huh! Gotta love monopolies, they are a sure path to destroying competitiveness and screwing the end customer :evil:
