  • I've lost power to accessory plug

I just finished hooking up the UHF radio and was getting the power from the accessory plug and nothing happened, I then put a test light on the plugs and nothing. I have checked the plugs, checked the fuse and dead as. Does anyone have any hints as to whether there any plugs between the socket and the fuse box that may have become dislodged. Just checking before I start pulling things apart and running the risk of having bits left over.

Have you checked the circuit breaker in the box under the bonnet?

On my old Prado I modified this so it put power to the sockets all the time regardless of key position.

Checked that so it just looks like I will just have to have a look around.

      Thanks anyway.

I am not sure exactly how you are taking the power from the accessories socket, and I doubt this is related to your problem, but just in case it helps... I noticed that the cig socket in my old 4 Runner had a small wire bridge on the back of the socket itself that failed. It looked more like it was designed to fail under high thermal conditions though. It wasn't a replaceable fuse though, just a short bit of exposed wire.

Have you actually disconnected the radio. Maybe it is dead. Have you tried to connect something else directly to the socket?
i would be using my mulitmeter whilst the key is in the accessory position to confirm if power exists at that point or not. If not, go back to the fuse panel and check against that.

let us know how you go.
