Can any one out there help me with this one.I have had my Prado 120 series for about Two months now and the first rain that it encountered the Left hand Seat belt got soacked.I have checked all of the bolts up top ,and they were slightly loose. But apart from that I can not work out where the water would be coming from.

    Re: wet seat belts

You would assume that when you checked the bolts on the roof rack that the seal was still good? One other point might be the door bolts on behind the front seats? Another point check under the chasis to see if you have a bung hole or a seam weld that may have poped? Did you go through hight water? If not then pull the trim back and get your better half to run the hose over the area and use a light to check and see if you can see any water. The other thing is did the kids pour a drink down it? Just trying to help

Thanks for that.I checked all bolts and some were loose. The only other place that I could see was the front window seal at the top.It looks as if the previous owner has run cables along the roof line.I took of the rail linings on the roof and there is no holes in the roof. The idea of getting in and putting the hose on it sounds like the next plan,Thanks for the reply.

        Re: wet seat belts

It is possible that the previous owner took off the factory roof rails to put on some Rhino roof racks. Then when it came time to sell, he simply bolted the roof rails back on without sealing it properly.

On the mounting point on the roof, there should be a white tube in the mounting hole. Around this tube should be a gasket or an O-ring. Then the roof rails goes on, then the bolts goes in. it would pay to have the roof rails removed to check around this tube at all mounting points.

          Hi Big Trev
I assume that you are talking about the front left seat belt being wet Trev?
Recently I installed a Map/Reading light to the right hand side B pillar, to be used from the drivers seat and also for the daughter to read in the second row at night. Once I had removed the trim from the B pillar for a mounting point and wiring access I discovered that the Captive nuts for the roof rail mounts are directly above the seat belt re tractor within the B pillar.
So I think you are on the right track to a solution, and as "amts" has posted an seal or Oring may have been left off one of the bolts.
          Cheers Troy

              Re: wet seat belts

You may have already fixed the problem, but if not, I had the same problem last winter. I had roof rails fitted to fit a pod onto the roof. Toyota was familiar with the problem and said that when the rails are fitted, sometimes a rubber grommet is omtted, which permits water inside the car and down the seat belts. They fixed the issue, without charge, by fitting some grommets. Not everyday I have something positive to say about Toyo but they were good on this occasion.

Hi I had the same problem when I fitted tracklander roof rack, thinking that the oring was good enough, but when it rained all the seat belts got wet. So off with the rack and used a sealent around the bolts and sealed the fittings when fitted , has worked a treat .
                Cheers Dave
