  • ARB Bullbar - indicators not working

Had the car in for a service this week only to discover that when ARB installed my bullbar over a year ago they didnt connect up the indicators.
So I've been driving around for over 12 months (including around 7000kms GTG trip) with no front indicators....oops
Looks like a trip to ARB tomorrow.

It didnt get picked up on the last service, around June, it makes me wonder what they check.

    Re: ARB Bullbar

You will still have indicators at the front adjacent to the headlights.....
ARB should have connected the indicators on the bull bar...maybe, like mine, you have a poor connection. I need to disconnect mine and clean the connector because sometimes it works and sometimes it dont....

Let us know what ARB say

Ditto with mine, they have inline connectors it their loom which on mine where a bit dodgy and would intermittently loose contact. In the end taped them up with electrical tape to stop any movement in them.

You might also like to check the quick taps that connect the ARB loom to the factory one behind the head light.

My ARB parker lights always blow. I take the Prado back to ARB to replace them as it's a PITA to get to them.

Those quick taps are known to be very unreliable. I'm going to check how they did my bar, and if those are used I'll be removing them, crimp then solder and heatshrink the wires together instead.
Did this on my trailer wiring after continual issues, where quick taps were used, and no problems ever since.
          Cheers, Wayne

Its not just a poor connection, they just havent been connected up at all.
I do have the side indicaters though, which is probably why no-one has noticed.

              Pomp,

is the wiring that goes from the lights in the bullbar up to the headlights/indicators present? (there is a three pin connector in the this loom). If you have the wiring loom I can solder it in for you at York next weekend.

Re: ARB Bullbar - indicators not working

                HINT:

There are several easy ways with which to check all your lights are functioning - every GOOD driver should do this regularly.

                1. If you have a garage it's fairly simple to activate each bank of lights in succession and use your mirrors to confirm that they are illuminating.

                2. Use windows of shops or your own home and view the operation of your lights. You can do this at anytime of the day.

                3. Get the missus or one of the rug rats to confirm lights are functioning whilst you flick the switches and push the brake pedal. Or you can do it yourself - use a piece of timber to wedge between the driver's seat and the brake pedal.

It takes only seconds. I am amazed at the dozens of lazy motorists who don't check lights and drive around with non-operating lights. Late model Commodores and hyundais seem to be the most prolific offenders.

I get annoyed when something doesn't work and I fix it straight away. Relying on Mr Toyota to ensure all the bits are working is a big ask when you only visit him once every 6 months or so. And, as we are prone to do, taking our Prados out into the wilderness and along those bumpy dirt tracks and such like enevitably will blow light bulbs and/or rattle connections loose.

                Get out and check 'em!
                Dave
