Fuel Tanks. What to do?

G'day all,

I have a 4.0 V6 Prado. We dont drive it a whole lot and both tanks normally last us a month or so.

I have half of the 2nd tank left, I either fill up now or wait until wednesday next week. Will leave it till next week result in condensation gathering in the first tank as it has been empty for a good week or so already??

I guess what Im thinking is I should run it till close to empty so I can start running 98 octane, but am worried about condensation building up with one tank empty and the other just under half.

I have done a search and couldnt find alot, sorry.

There is a few threads with details on the 120 fuel tank system on PP already.

The tanks do not "empty" as such, they use a venturi pump that flows constantly from one to another on the return loop. Meaning condensation and issues arent a problem.

You would only get "condensation" from water, if thats in your tank you have a whole lot of bother already.... Tanks also have breathers to allow them to suck air in as they reduce in level, this circulates to allow the tank to breathe.

I would be mixing the fuels, it will take about 5 fills before you will see a difference from 98 octane anyway.

If you don't use it a lot, just start using premium.

Fuel loses octane in storage anyway, you might as well start ahead of the pack and it should be as good as you can hope for by the time it goes through the engine.
