  • Door handles with no key holes - how to get in with a flat battery?!

    Hi guys,

I have just purchased a 2006 Prado and it's got some strange door handles that don't have anywhere to insert a key - not even the tailgate. I'm wondering if anyone has seen these before and if so, how do you get in with a flat battery?

The drivers door has a blank metal plate where the key hole would normally be. There's no slot underneath the handle where a key might fit and the only place I can see is just visible when you pull the handle away from the car. Unfortunately there's no way to actually get a key there! Any help would be appreciated, photos below.

    Cheers,
    Ash

Maybe someone tried to break in. Owner decided to get rid of key hole all together.

Option 1. Fix the door handle.

Option 2. Run an Anderson plug to somewhere that’s easy to get too. Or even just a positive wires capped off.
Anderson is better. Buy a car charger fit an Anderson plug to that. If your home and your battery goes flat. Charge it.

If your out. Bring another battery, wire Anderson to hat and plug it in. Should provide enough power to open the car but not start it. Use proper jump leads for that

Drivers side door handle is the spot. Someone has modified it.

Choice to have it modified back to operational, buy the parts from amayama or partsouq.

Or if your locked out road service will be needed to break in.

is it a repossessed car or has it been in the past?

Thanks guys, not repossessed as far as I'm aware so must have been modified - I'll look into getting the parts as it would be pretty inconvenient with a flat battery!
