HI I need to get to the captive nuts that hold the roof rails down, only need to get to 1 front one, how do I remove part of the lining. thanks.

Removing the lining isn't that easy but start with opening the door and pulling out the door seal. Also unclip the trim around the seatbelt.
What are you trying to do? The captive nuts in the roof lining are made in pairs. What have you done on the roof side? Have you pushed one captive nut down while the other one still has the bolt attached?
I was removing the roof rack rail and removed one bolt, ok the other one was tight decided to use battery screw drive. The nut let go but did get bolt out now the fun starts
Ah OK. Too late now for this but the trick is to loosen both bolts first before removing any in each pair.
Once you pull off the door seal, you can see the gap between the lining and the roof. The hard part is the area around the B pillar/seat belt. There's probably a way to remove the seatbelt first and then remove the trim around the B pillar.
