Time for an update. I needed to have a tour vehicle that was up to the job for our first year back running tours. Being used to the extra space of a GU Patrol Coil Cab with Obieco box, meant that I was going to have to be very careful to conserve as much space as possible. As a restart, we were also on a very tight budget but need to have the essentials.
I started with the electrics. I installed an aux battery tray and battery, a simple battery management system and all of the wiring for fridges and radios. Radios presently installed are UHF, VHF and HF. As per my normal practice, I went for a high CCA marine lead acid battery as lead acid batteries are best for charging via an alternator. True deep cycle batteries don't get above 60% charge capacity when charged via an alternator (BTW 60% charge capacity is not what the average punter thinks it is).
Navigation was installed next. Given the challenges of replacing the Prado entertainment system and our budget, I opted for a CD slot mounted Samsung galaxy tab (which I already owned) running my favourite navigation software- OziExplorer.
I'm now working on the drawer and fridge installs. Photos soon
