I would go to this guy, Engine Care. Would have used him myself if I wasn't in Perth.

Engine Care re D4D engine failure

D4D engines Australia. All the guy does, Fixes the shitty piston issues with the Prado and Hilux etc. engines.

Yes have tried them and they are based in Brisbane and the contact in Sydney is already fully booked. Bad time of the year.

First is to find a suitable shop that can do the swap.
Then try Toyota for a crate engine.
They sell a complete engine with injectors, Toyota warranty and latest spec pistons.
I tried D4D engines for a quote, got no reply. I don’t care how busy they are, if too slack to reply they lose business in the long run.

Got run around by one guy and ended up towing vehicle to Villawood engine services ( recommended by my local garage). They are pulling it down as we speak, suspected broken crank shaft/ split egr manifold amongst other issues created from previous engine rebuild advised that Turbo needs replacing as well so any advice on good value for money aftermarket Turbo would be appreciated.

Ever did any major servicing like injectors, fuel pump etc? Any oil consumption?

If she runs like a dream, don't mess with it. That engine runs a completely different injection system.

What do you mean by no major service?

Whilst we call could do with a bit more power, I wouldn't mess with her either. My 2005 model with the 1kz is on 207 000km and I'm also looking to do some preventative maintenance.
