The Bilsteins I had fitted by the Australia distributor, at their site near Sydney Airport, did give a beautiful soft ride, because they had next to no compression or rebound damping. You may as well have taken the shock off and had none, such was the ride. I've seen a number of other reports from people who felt exactly the same way about them, so what I'm saying is nothing unique.

Bilstein make excellent shocks (better quality than Koni by far), but as always, it depends which ones you select and how they are matched to the springs and other vehicle attributes.
