Try these steps and see if it starts between each step.- Put your good battery in the main battery holder and connect up but remove the links to the secondary battery and any extra accessories.
- Check the following fuses in the engine bay fuse box - 30A marked AM2, 7.5A marked STA and replace if blown.
- Check the Relay in the engine bay fuse box marked STA Relay (see if it clicks when the key is turned to start)
- if yes you most likely have a faulty starter motor.
- If no, check if you are getting 12V on the STA Relay pin 3 (relay +) and pin 2 (coil +) when the key is in the start position.
- If yes replace the relay
- If no 12V on pin 2 then it could be your Park Neutral Start switch open circuit.
- If no 12V on pin 3 then you could have a faulty ignition switch.

If that fuse is blown did you connect the battery or jumper leads in reverse at any stage? (As this is a common cause and what that fuse is designed to protect the alternator from).
If not you have a short to ground or failed diode in the alternator so don't replace fuse and reconnect battery until you check with a multimeter.
There a few videos on youtube on replacing that fuse on various Toyota models which may at least give you some tips on how to dismantle the fuse box.

With any starting or charging problem start with know good fully charged batteries in the vehicle. A quality battery charger, one with a 'repair' function is relatively inexpensive and will get used again in the future.
It's unproductive to go looking for other problems till this fundamental is estimated.Last edited by JohnCW; 27-05-2023, 10:34 AM.
