v/6 auto towing caravan down hill

prado v/6 auto and we now have a 1.6ton camper trailer , and not sure about towing down steep hills , do i rely on campers electric brakes and change auto out of drive into a lower gear ,aswell as using the prados brakes , thanks john

Yes, shift down to the lowest gear possible appropriate for the descent and use the combined car and van brakes. You want the van brakes to be set just slightly stronger than the car so the van is holding the car back from behind rather than the car holding it back from the front.
Basically go down decents exactly the same way any heavy vehicle does it, maximising engine braking.
