The usual maintenance and the seal from the intercooler to the bonnet has warped.

        2005 120 Diesel Prado

Driver's door strap that stops the door opening too far stretched. This allows it to come in contact with window mechanism and can smash glass if window used with door closed. Strap very expensive for a small piece of rubbish.

Major cracking in inner passenger mud guard from corrugations. My theory is battery vibrating causing inner guard flexing.

        Air con compressor failed, replaced

        Inner diff oil seals replaced

Lost count how many times I have replaced the diesel in mine

Not as often as the petrol guys need to replace petrol though.

                Cheers Andrew

I have a 2003 KZJ120. The previous owner had it well serviced (preventative maintenance) and no problems. no offroad.

I have had it 13 months, I have done some work on it, but i wouldnt call it fixing anything, just preventative maintenance (service)
Except for the gearbox problem i had which i believe is super uncommon, could be related to how it is used??? much more care full now with the 2005 hilux box thats in it.

It is primarily used as a 4x4 and most of its use is on the way to or from and on the tracks. done 30,000klm in 12 months.
I think that is absoluted fantastic, what a machine!

Off road damaged caused by me...... thats a bit of a list....... in no particular order......

Bash plate - always got bashed and scraped - fitted bushskins & higher front springs
fuel tank gaurds - always getting hammered - higher rear springs - regular r&r panelbeat & paint - would love an aftermarket alternative.
front transfer case seal - after hitting a big shallow puddle fast showing off - replaced.
side steps - sides scraped and pushed up - fitted powerfull 4x4
mud spats - always getting scraped and/or ripped off, replaced one, (broken) refiited the rest, better with new side steps
bullbar - bent up from bouncing into embankments sliding uncontrolably down water slides. - reworked.
pin stripe city - light 5 minute poilish to hide and protect - might paint sides one day, if i decide to sell, but too happy with it to sell.
bent r/h/r lower control arm (banana) - was going to str8ten, it drives well and no tyre wear, so im keeping the extra clearance
bent edges of steel rims back in a few spots on rocks but thats wear and tear like the cuts n chop outs in the rubber

With regards to fixing the inner guard tears. Both my 120 and my friends 150 both had serious tears by the time we got to Seisia near the Cape York tip. We took them to a garage in Seisia and the fellow welded them both for $100. Still holding together but I am going to put a brace from the top of the battery to the front radiator bar before next trip. I am hoping this stops the batter rocking and flexing the inner guard. My feelings are that the battery is the cause. The FJ cruiser had the same problem and supposedly they redesigned and fixed it on that one. I was also of the understanding that the problem had been addressed on the 150 but we know that ain't so!

I spoke too soon. The day after that post, I bumped into a shrub parking at the local shops, scratching the front bumper (time for a bull-bar anyway) and a rock smashed the windscreen on the way home Very rarely does Karma show me her true colours, so for that I'm grateful.

I've owned the car from 130,000km to 270,000km (current - 6 years of ownership) and the only failed items which were fitted to the vehicle originally that I've had to replace are the radiator, alternator and upper rear left control arm.
