Whilst working under the Prado I noticed that I accidently popped of the rubber hole plugs (20-30mm in diameter). On further inspection I found that the rubber plug had almost lost its rubber quality albeit not brittle (yet). Once placed back in the hole its evident that its easy to pop back out - I imagine that the water rushing underneath the car whilst fording a river will (most definitely) push the plug allowing water to enter the cabin.
Looking for a bit of advice here: should I order new rubber plugs or use some automotive grade sikaflex (227) and start waterproofing all of these plugs? The car is 3.5 years old and I'm quite impressed that the rubber is quite hard and lost its quality.
