Knock in Front Brakes/Suspension

My 2005 Prado GXL has recently developed a knock in the front end somewhere. The sound is like hitting the disc brake with a hammer and only occurs once. It usually happens after the vehicle has been standing for a bit and usually when reversing and after moving only a metre or two and immediately after touching the brake. It's a bit hard to explain exactly. I had a service today and the mechanic checked all the suspension bolts, springs, shockers etc, but noticed the brake pads have a small amount of play in the pins that hold the pads in place. There are marks on the edge of the pads which indicate that it might be the cause. The vehicle has done 110,000 kms and still on the original brake pads.
Has anyone had something similar on their Prado? I would welcome your thoughts.

Yes I also experienced that "knock". Like you said only when the cars has been standing awile and when reversing mostly.
And my prado has all new brake-pads...

Have you determined that the knock is coming from the brake pads? Have you had it seen to or fixed? Mine only started a few weeks ago. I bought the car at 20,000km and it's now done 110,000km and still on the original pads and plenty of wear left in them.

guys this is a common problem due to using non genuine brake pads .originals apparently have a couple of locating tags but non genuine do not .the pads move around in the caliper. apparently it can be fixed by using anti squeal compound or gasket sealant .

Both my Prados have this 'knock' in the front brakes. The pads move slightly and should never cause a failure.

Mine knocks too, (On genuine toyota original pads) Almost 100K and been advised to replace them next service.
