  • Annoying buzzer

Washed under the bonnet of my d4d after a recent trip up the Birdsville track to the Cooper Creek. I used truck wash and pressure cleaner. I have sprayed crc over all connections. I have a buzzer continually on No warning lights at all. Manual (glovebox) says the only buzzers are connected to fuel filter and or fuel system warning lights. As i have said no warning lights are on and the car perfoms perfectly. I have disconected the wires on the fuel filter and blown them out as well. I also disconected the battery in a hope that it would reset. Can anybody offer any reason or remedy please. otherwise its a $$$$$ trip to the dealer

    Re: Annoying buzzer

Without knowing exactly which buzzer it has that is buzzing or what feeds it, I can only offer a few suggestions...

I dare say that the buzzer is not directly activated by the sensor, (could be of course), possibly a relay. But wherever the supply comes from there is most probably water (and dirt) causing tracking between connections or the switch it stuck closed. Best be would be to start moving down the line from the buzzer to the fuse box until your electrical connections are clean, dry and visually inspected.

Of course, it may only be coincidence that the buzzer came on after the wash?

Failing the above, and due to the complicated nature of electrical systems within cars these days - a good auto electrician or the toyota service center is the next step. They have all the necessary diagrams and tools to track faults like this...

Causes: Pressure washing under the hood is unfortunately a necessary evil, it does make the engine bay all nice and clean, however, not many electrical components on a car can take direct hits from a pressure wash jet. Infact I could go so far as to say all of them.

Best bet in the future, is to be ever aware of what the pressure jet is blasting - experience tells me that these pressures pass rubber seals and o-rings commonly used to 'water proof' electrical components when getting a direct hit from the jet. Which really means they are 'splash proof' and short term emmersion proof...

    IP44 to IP54 type ratings...

Hope you find something mate, electrical faults can be a real pain to trace without the correct tools and experience.

      Re: Annoying buzzer

There is also buzzers on the Traction (slip) and VSC system and also reverse sensors if you have them (but will usually buzz from the left rear of car)..

        Re: Annoying buzzer

thanks blokes it is more intermittant now. I think its the switch on the fuel filter. I'm going to take it off tonight and clean it, drain the sedimenter just in case it is a coincedence. Otherwise i'm gunna disconnect it (probally not a good idea but stiff s---t) I'll keep u posted. Should have kept my MANCRUISER (80series) instead if buying this GIRLCRUISER  ps Ihave now fitted a new filter and unless the water switch and the other switch on top is cactus the bloody buzzer is still going but i have isolated it to the circuit ST2 on the fuse panel inside the car. The tacho works on this circuit. anyway i think it has to go to the dealer$$$$$$ :x Any ideas plzs help cheers

          Re: Annoying buzzer

          You mentioned a "sedimenter".
I have one of these fitted http://www.goldcoastdieselspecialist...u/products.ews

and its purpose is to buzz if water is in fuel.

Not likely because you have no warning light but could it be something to do with your problem.
