Thanks for the offer but now that you mention it, my dad also has a carport I can use

I bought one of those stickers today, part number PZQ296014CL PRADO BULLBAR RECALL DECAL, list price $3.52. Unfortunately they will only sell you one if you also buy part number PZQ96016ZBF MTG BRKT PRADO ALLOY for $311.30.
I didn't get charged for the sticker, maybe because they put it in the wrong place....

      • Just got the mounts done , complete with scratches to right guard and miss alignment...not too happy. I have about 24 mm at the passenger side and 14 mm driver side. I have rebooked it for another try next week after they failed to get it right after two hours.

Would like to try it myself but lost my copy of instructions to Bullbar. Can someone steer me in the right direction at trying to aligning it myself? Tried the search but failed or should I leave it be?

        • found instructions on the net....took all of 20minutes to get it back down to 15mm....now found out that it also needs sideways adjustment. Passenger side needs to move out by 7mm.

To the ones that have install these bullbars am I right to loosen the bracket rear bolts for sideways adjustment. I am very close to getting this right I don't want to stuff it up now.

          • Worked out side shift adjustment ....here is where I got angry , I had zero adjustment because the idiots have stuff up with the brackets. They have put the left bracket on the right side and the right bracket on the left side. Please can some one comfirm my findings. Where there is the three nuts on the bracket on the right side.Is the id plate on the motor side or facing the bullbar???
This id plate is stopping the side shift. Looking at the id it has a R which is on the left side and the L is on the right side of the Bullbar.

            Thanks Zapper

After scanning this thread I see that mine is installed like maccamob. I am now confussed. Why whould you put an id plate right in the way of stopping an adjustment. I am still thinking they have got these brackets ass about.

Is any one out there can help me?

              • I had my bracket recall done 2-3 weeks ago, in addition had the winch cradle fitted. First collection sovereign bar was displaced to the left 5-10mm, had it rebooked to rectify the misalignment. My id plates face outward ie toward the bull bar, right on the right side. The base of the bracket plates have clearly been 'thumped' with a hefty hammer, at a guess I'd say they loosened the bolts gave the plates a good wack...alignment complete.

Thanks bigzoo, my bad, looks like they have mounted the brackets the right way. Did they remove the id plate on one side ,cause it is stopping the side movement or did the plate go slightly over it?

Edit .. When you say right on right side , are you looking at the Bullbar i.e right = passenger side

                  • Took my Prado into the Morley Galleria Toyota(WA) yesterday for Bullbar Mount Recall, they checked it out and contacted me to confirm the mounts needed changing. They had to get the parts in but had it all done by 5pm. They did a really good job I was impressed, no cut wires, All my lights working including spotties and the bar was aligned spot on. I did take pictures prior just to cover myself if I wasn't happy but yeah no problems for me. I guess they would have done that many now they could do it with their eyes closed!

                    • Interesting thread. I'm driving a 2005 120 series with a Sovereign bullbar since new and have never had any contact from Toyota about a recall.

You still have time, contact local dealer and go from there.

                        • Like a lot of others on this thread, even though I bought my 2005 Prado from a Toyota dealer 2nd Hand, I haven't ever received notice of a recall. I haven't had a good look at it yet, to determine if it has been modified, but I'll check it out tomorrow during daylight hours. There is no recall sticker on the vehicle, so it will be interesting to see if it has been done.

                            • Just found this thread. Seem I still have the box style mount on my 03 Sovereign Bar. I bought the car around the time of the recall and year later actually had a service done at the dealership but no mention of it. Sent an email off to CEC just then and may get informed in the future.
