Timing Belt Gooooone

We blew a timing belt on one of the pit prados the other day which resulted in a pemature death of the engine. She blew at 110k checking our warrenty options atm but it is not looking good.

Im currently writing the rego number of every vehicle up here down as i would not want to pick one of these up second hand.... man we flog em up here.

Am I right in assuming it's a diesel engine timing belt rather than a petrol engine chain?

My neighbour is a pit boss at the super pit and has a 3 year old Prado that seems to be handling the conditions fine with no issues.

My major concern about any vehicle from a minesite would be the effects of the salt on body, chassis and suspension components.

As the majority of these vehicles are leased from the major fleet hire companies, when it comes time for disposal they are usually auctioned off unregistered but inspected and ready for rego (like the hail damaged cars) or they are scooped up by other dealers who quickly detail the vehicles and re-licence them with new plates so you need to be smart when buying second hand.

Our biggest issue here is suspension as the haul road will eat up a vehicle in no time. Also cv joints cause as soon as the boot is cracked in comes the dust
